Benefits of Professional Backflow Testing

What Is a Backflow?

A backflow preventer is a safety device installed on your home or business water lines that keeps water flowing in only one direction. Its job is to stop contaminated water from ever flowing backward into the city’s clean drinking supply.

ANNUAL TESTING FOR BACKFLOWS

  • Annual testing performed and results submitted directly to the Water District.

  • Direct coordination with Water Districts regarding late tests or water-shutoff notices.

  • We contact you each year to schedule and complete your Annual Backflow Test.

  • Certified and licensed Backflow Specialists perform all testing.

  • California State Health Codes require annual testing on irrigation, domestic, fireline, and bypass devices. All backflow preventers must be tested once per year under California law.

REPAIR, REPLACEMENT & INSTALLATION

  • When repairs or replacements are needed, we coordinate directly with your Water District to notify them of scheduled work.

  • After repairs, replacement, or installation, the device is retested and results are submitted to the Water District.

  • If your Water District requires a new backflow device, we handle registration and installation.

  • If required, all necessary permits for backflow installation or replacement will be pulled on your behalf.

TYPES OF BACKFLOWS

Domestic

Installed on potable water systems to prevent potential contaminants from entering the public water supply.

Irrigation

Common backflow devices used for irrigation systems include:

  • Double Check Valve Assembly (DCVA)

  • Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly (RPZA)

Irrigation systems may contain fertilizers, dirt, bacteria, and pesticides. If this water flows backward into the potable system, it can pose serious health risks. A backflow device prevents this cross-connection and ensures compliance with state regulations.

Fireline & Bypass

Fireline Backflows are installed on fire protection water systems (fire sprinkler systems). Types include:

  • DCVA – Common for large commercial buildings, condos, and high-rise properties.

  • DCDA – Installed on water lines supplying a fire suppression system.
